BUSINESS FOUNDATIONS FOR FIRST-TIME FOUNDERS

Most people taking the leap into entrepreneurship start with the visible stuff - a website before the strategy, a brand before the positioning, a social presence before the offer is clear. I help first-time founders build their business properly — whether you're just getting started or ready to reset and do it right.

STOP RUNNING ON GUESSWORK

Whether you're just starting out or already building a business, the most common mistake is the same. You pour all your efforts into the visible stuff first. The website, the brand and the social presence. It feels like momentum, but without the right foundations underneath, nothing quite lands the way you hoped.

I work with first-time founders to build those foundations properly. We work on the strategy, structure, and the systems you need to run an effective business. With 15+ years of real-world commercial experience, I aim to deliver a thinking partnership that leaves you with an actionable plan and a feeling of excitement about launching or relaunching your business.

ABOUT ME

MEET YOUR CO-PILOT SOPHIE

A blend of strategy, creativity & organisation

I've spent 15 years working across brand, marketing, and strategy with global companies and independent founders. I've touched almost every part of the customer journey, which means I understand how all the pieces of a business fit together, not just one corner of it.

I've also made the leap to self-employment myself, so I know what it feels like to leave the structure of a corporate career and suddenly be responsible for everything — the strategy, the decisions, the direction.

My approach is structured but personal. I'm not here to overwhelm you with information or hand you a generic plan. I work closely with a small number of clients at a time, using a six-phase method called The BRICKS Method, so every piece of work we do together builds on the last.

Clients often describe it as finally having someone who took the idea in their head and made it real by giving them the clarity, the roadmap, and the confidence to move forward.

My goal is to be the thinking partner you didn't know you needed — calm, direct, and completely in your corner.

A STRUCTURED APPROACH

THE METHOD

Most business advice tells you what to do. The BRICKS Method focuses on what to do firstand why — so every decision you make is grounded in the right foundations.

  • We dive in to understanding who you are as a founder. The mindset shift from employee to entrepreneur before anything else. Your business needs to work for you, and play to your strengths.

  • Next we create the architecture of your business. Model, audience, research, revenue logic, and what needs to exist before you can take on your first customer.

  • This is the strategic plan. How all the components of your business fit together and why, so every decision has a clear rationale behind it. This stops the constant guess work down the line.

  • How are you actually going to connect to your customers? Answer - Your brand ecosystem. We disect how your business shows up across every touchpoint — positioning, voice, and the channels that matter for your audience.

  • Now we get practical. The actions you need to take to actually get started — and the order in which they need to happen. You will receive your own custom Notion dashboard.

  • Optional. For those who want continued support, I offer monthly coaching for decision-making, accountability, and strategic support as you grow.

A METHOD THAT WORKS NO MATTER WHAT YOU’RE BUILDING

COMMON PROBLEMS I HELP TO SOLVE

✔️ Working out your business model

Sole trader or limited company? What to charge, how to package your offer, and how to make sure the numbers actually work.

✔️ Knowing what to do first

When everything feels equally urgent, it's hard to make progress on anything. We create a clear, sequenced plan so you always know exactly where to focus.

✔️ Choosing the right marketing channels

Not every channel suits every business. We work out where your audience actually is — and where your time and energy will have the most impact.

✔️ Building your operational foundations

The systems and processes that mean your business runs properly from day one — not six months in when everything feels chaotic.

WHERE WE BEGIN

THE FOUNDATION SESSION

A 90-minute online (or in-person) session where we dive straight into the work.

Before we meet, you'll complete a short questionnaire so we arrive prepared. In the session itself, we work through who you are as a founder, where your business idea currently stands, and what needs to happen first to move it forward.

Afterwards, you'll receive a written summary covering your personal foundations, a snapshot of your business idea, and a clear set of prioritised next steps.

It's a complete piece of work in itself — and the natural starting point for everything that follows.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Both — and everything in between. Some people I work with have a fully formed idea and are ready to build. Others are still figuring out exactly what their business is going to be. What matters isn't how far along you are — it's whether you're serious about building something properly. If you're at the stage where you're thinking "I know I want to do this, but I'm not sure where to start" — that's exactly the right time to reach out.

  • Absolutely. I've worked across product and ecommerce businesses throughout my career — from global brands to independent founders launching their first physical or digital product. The BRICKS Method works just as well for product businesses as it does for services. We still need to get clear on your customer, your positioning, your revenue model, and how your brand shows up in the world. The foundations are the same — how we apply them is tailored entirely to what you're building.

  • A few things. I bring 15 years of real commercial experience across brand, marketing, and strategy — so I'm not just asking you questions and helping you find your own answers. I'm actively working alongside you, bringing genuine expertise to the table and helping you build something that makes commercial sense. I also work with a small number of clients at a time, which means every engagement is properly bespoke — built around your idea, your industry, and how you work best. It's not a course, it's not a programme, and it's not generic advice. It's a thinking partnership — and there's a real difference.

  • Really well, actually — and service businesses are some of the most common businesses I work with. The biggest challenge for most service providers is packaging what they do into something clear, compelling, and easy to say yes to. When what you're selling is your expertise, getting the positioning right is everything. We work through exactly that — what your offer is, who it's for, what makes you different, and how to communicate it in a way that attracts the right clients from day one.

  • The short answer is no — and honestly, that's a good thing. My job is to make sure that when you do invest in a website, a designer, or a content creator, you're not wasting that money building the wrong thing.

What I do instead is arguably more valuable. We get clear on exactly what your website needs to say, who it needs to speak to, and what it needs to do — before a single page gets designed. I help you create a clear brief that any good designer or developer can work from, which means fewer revisions, less back and forth, and a website that actually works for your business rather than just looking nice.

The founders who skip this step often end up six months down the line with a beautiful website that doesn't convert — because the strategy underneath it was never right. Getting the foundations in place first doesn't slow you down. It means that when you do build, you build it once, and you build it properly.
